摘要

The care of patients with malignant diseases is becoming increasingly complex given the continuous development of new forms of therapy and oral therapies in particular. Continuous and highly qualified monitoring is becoming increasingly important. In order to meet this requirement in the future, the increased involvement of non-physician staff in the care of cancer patients would be an important approach. Several models already exist for this. This article presents an example of one such model, namely the non-physician oncology and hematology care consultation, taking into account the existing literature and the authors’ experience. In summary, the following aspects represent the main objectives of a non-physician oncology and hematology care consultation: explanation of the respective form of therapy, including side effect management; adherence monitoring; social aspects and organizational aspects. In addition to the professional qualifications of the staff carrying out the care consultation, structural requirements are also necessary for the successful implementation of the care consultation. Although no additional remuneration is currently planned for non-physician oncological and hematology care consultations, they have the potential to become an integral part of outpatient care for cancer patients by complementing it in a meaningful way.
