Vaginalkarzinom und Descensus genitalis
摘要
Primary vaginal cancer is a rarity, whereas metastases from other gynecological cancers occur more frequently in the vagina. Among other factors, chronic irritations contribute to the development of cancer in vaginal tissue. Severe genital prolapse poses a particular challenge, especially due to its high prevalence in the aging population and the more complex treatment required in this specific patient group. Both prolonged genital prolapse and extended conservative treatment using pessaries are associated with the development of vaginal cancer.
ConclusionIt is crucial to handle patients with a long history of prolapse carefully due to the potential for malignant changes. Treatment of vaginal cancer in the presence of severe prolapse does not differ significantly from the standard approach. Ideally, the treatment of vaginal cancer should also include addressing the prolapse and restoring the functionality of pelvic organs.
