摘要

The rejection of the draft legislation on assisted suicide in July 2023 means that practical, social and cultural aspects need to be reconsidered. The aim of the two-part event was to offer a forum for transdisciplinary dialogue on questions relating to the existing regulations on assisted suicide—across specialist disciplines and with the involvement of members of the public. Lectures were followed by a discussion of citizens’ questions and a reading by the author Helga Schubert from her novel, in which she describes life with her palliative care husband. The morning and afternoon events were fully booked with 100 registrations each. The high level of interest reflects society’s need for formats that enable an open exchange on relevant ethical and cultural issues and their practice with a variety of perspectives.
