摘要

Adolescence is characterized by a range of developmental psychological challenges that can be a significant burden, even for individuals with good mental health. As traditional health care systems often fall short in meeting the needs of psychiatric patients transitioning into adulthood, specialized psychiatric services for this age group are becoming increasingly common. A particularly critical point in this context is the transition from child and adolescent psychiatry (CAP) to adult psychiatry (AP), which is often accompanied by uncertainty and can lead to treatment interruptions.

The following article introduces the psychiatric care system at UK Tulln for individuals throughout the period of transition, aimed at tackling these issues through close and continuous collaboration between the two specialist departments, and also offers diverse and age-appropriate treatment options in young adulthood. This article also presents the case of a 21-year-old patient with autism spectrum disorder and recurrent depressive disorder, illustrating the importance of diverse and flexibly applied treatment options.
