摘要

“Conceptional development of stroke management in Vienna” was conducted for 26 months starting in March 2022 to ensure the quality and improvement of stroke management in Vienna. Part 1 investigated the present situation and part 2 developed prospective care concepts for 2025 to 2035. The complete stroke pathway from prehospital to acute care and rehabilitation as well as poststroke management was analyzed. Essential results of part 1 were the evaluation of all in-patient data in Viennese hospitals from 2019–2022, which were published in 2023. The aim of part 2 was to develop “change management” with all stakeholders in stroke management in Vienna with final recommendations for the WIGEV board. The team provided a prognosis regarding care volume and necessary capacity of stroke beds until 2035. According to the 2022 ESO recommendation, the possibility of a mobile stroke unit for Vienna was discussed, which resulted in the endorsement of a pilot project. Finally, an overall summary and a list of ten final recommendations were provided to the sponsor.
