In 2023, a palliative counselling service was set up at the Christian Doppler Hospital Salzburg with financial support from the state of Salzburg in accordance with the Hospice Palliative Care Fund Act. As long as Christian Doppler Hospital does not have its own Palliative Care Unit, patients with medical and nursing concerns and needs related to palliative care at the University Departments for Geriatrics, Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry will be cared for by multiprofessional teams of specially trained physicians and nurses. The consultation service began its work in November 2023 and has already received positive feedback from the requesting wards and departments.
