Active and Assisted Living
摘要
Increasing life expectancy reinforces the importance of care and support services. Technical assistance systems can help enable an independent life within one’s own home environment. Early awareness-raising, proactive and low-threshold offers, as well as interdisciplinary collaboration, are crucial to encourage engagement with the topic and reduce fears. Based on these insights, the project “Der Leichter leben-Raum on Tour through the District of Weiz” developed a roadshow. From October 2024 to June 2025, technical assistance systems were presented to older people in the district. Through accessible and interactive events, consultations and workshops, awareness was raised, barriers were reduced, and access to assistive technologies was made tangible. To explore the perception of AAL technologies in rural areas, qualitative interviews were conducted. The results show that the term “AAL” is largely unknown, however, clear and comprehensive communication is key to increasing awareness. Acceptance of these technologies is strongly influenced by technological affinity, age, and personal relevance.
