Die Zukunft des österreichischen Pflegesystems - Eine Analyse

In Austria, around 80 percent of care allowance recipients live at home, with informal care provided by 947,000 family caregivers who play a key role in supporting the care system. These informal carers face a variety of challenges, including organizational, informational and social requirements as well as adapting to demographic and social changes. Mobile services and 24-hour care are currently stabilizing the system, but the number of people in need of care will rise sharply due to demographic change. Political measures such as care allowance, pension entitlement for family carers and the „Community Nursing“ project have been implemented, but their effectiveness remains questionable. The future of the care system depends largely on the stability of informal care and requires a „Continuum of Care“ approach that goes beyond financial and legal limits, as well as the „Health in All Policies“ approach to ensure needs-based care.
