摘要

Background

Every year the Austrian Ophthalmological Society (ÖOG) Commission for Cataract Surgery and Intraocular Implants conducts a national survey of all eye surgery departments in Austria.

Material and Methods

Questionnaires were sent to departments of ophthalmology in Austria and were anonymously returned either in print format or via an online form. Participation in the survey was voluntary. A statistical evaluation of the questionnaires was carried out and the results were compared with the data of previous years.

Results

The responses of 15 departments of ophthalmology with a total of 152 surgeons are presented in this publication and combined with data from previous years. The participation rate was 60% (lower than last year), with a total of 56,641 cataract surgeries reported. The results show that cataract surgeries in day clinics have increased again compared with the previous year.
