Propagation characteristics of SH waves in piezoelectric–piezomagnetic sandwich structures

This work studies SH waves propagating in sandwich structures consisting of a piezomagnetic (PM) layer and two identical piezoelectric (PE) layers. The interfaces between the layers are considered to be metalized. The dispersion equation is derived in a closed form. The numerical examples are provided to show the impacts of different material combinations, the ratio of the thickness of the PE layer to that of the PM layer and magnetoelectric interaction on the dispersion behavior. Several interesting characteristics are obtained. The results are useful for layered PE/PM composites in sound wave technology.
