Germanium carboxylates as catalysts in the polyurethane synthesis
摘要
Different germanium carboxylates were synthesized and evaluated as catalysts for (poly)urethane formation. For this purpose, the catalysts were tested in a first model reaction, synthesis of a diurethane. The 3 compounds showed promising catalytic activity towards urethane formation. A two center catalyst achieved the highest activity. Afterwards the catalysts were tested in polyurethane synthesis and materials with different properties were obtained. The catalyst PAAGe(OAc)3 exhibited a performance in a similar range as a standard industry catalyst. Overall, this work demonstrated for the first time, the viability of germanium carboxylate catalysts as efficient and tin-free alternatives in urethane synthesis.
