摘要

Nonepileptic paroxysmal movement disorders are common in children, age-dependent, generally self-limiting, and harmless. Due to the paroxysmal character, an epileptic etiology is often suspected in ignorance of the differential diagnosis. Both the spectrum of paroxysmal movement disorders and the semiology of epileptic seizures are particularly broad in children. Misdiagnosis has far-reaching consequences for the child and the family. Even the clinical picture of nonepileptic paroxysmal movement disorders very often allows the correct classification; video recordings are an important aid to diagnosis. The broad age-dependent spectrum of nonepileptic movement disorders in children is presented with the diagnostic examination methods that guide their evaluation.
