<p>Gender dysphoria, transgender identity, and transsexuality have become major topics that have attracted substantial public and scientific attention. Those affected can now present their concerns more freely than ever before. In Germany, the Self-Determination Act (2024) overcame constitutional objections that affected the old Transsexuals Act. The new law adopts a&#xa0;trans-affirmative approach, making the will of the affected individuals the decisive criterion. Children and adolescents, in particular, are left unsupported and overwhelmed. Important protective measures have been removed. The vision of boundless self-determination contradicts real-life conditions.</p>
