Entwicklung eines Elternedukationsprogramms bei Frühgeburtlichkeit auf der neonatologischen Intensivstation
摘要
Nursing care for premature babies is aimed at promoting development and preventing inhibiting environmental influences and developmental deficits. Parents play an important role in the care of premature infants and are exposed to considerable stress and problems.
ObjectivesThe aim of this study is to develop a concept for a modular educational program for parents of premature infants in terms of content and didactic methods.
MethodsNarrative review of a search in PubMed and Cochrane Library on parents’ needs and problems as well as guidelines, recommendations and standards as well as a manual search and inclusion of relevant pedagogical–psychological literature.
ResultsInternational recommendations, standards, guidelines and concepts: establishing contact, involvement, imparting specialist knowledge, lactation and breastfeeding, psychological care, hygiene, discharge management. Problems and types of stress encountered relate to: emotional stress, ineffective coping strategies, sleep disorders, problems with breast milk collection and breastfeeding, communication problems/gaps, difficult internalization process of parenthood. Parents’ learning prerequisites are shaped by emotion, motivational factors and environmental conditions.
ConclusionsSuccessful parent education can increase parenting skills and lead to an increase in quality and a reduction of burden on parents. Despite awareness on the ward and existing concepts, observed stress levels remain high. A methodical and didactic adaptation of the content could be helpful here.
