Photoprotektion in der Pädiatrie – ein wichtiger Teil der pädiatrischen Beratung
摘要
There are many different reasons for seeking a pediatric consultation. Typically, parents bring their child to see a pediatrician or to attend an outpatient clinic because the child is showing symptoms of a childhood disease or for the purposes of preventive care, e.g., a vaccination. Although sun protection is essential, especially in childhood, advice on sun protection is not yet sufficiently available in pediatric healthcare services. Ample evidence has been collected over the years to demonstrate that the foundations for the long-term damaging effects of unprotected exposure to the sun are already laid in childhood. Owing to inadequate information on the subject, but also and most especially misinformation on the internet, parents are often left in a state of confusion and uncertainty. The following article presents photobiological and dermatological information specific to child healthcare, together with tips for providing effective advice. In addition to recommendations on a sensible approach to managing sun exposure, information is also included on the topical application of sunscreen.
