<p>The historical documentation of <i>Riccia</i> in Egypt is limited, particularly in the South Sinai phytogeographical region, where the distribution and abundance of its taxa are still undetermined. This study aimed to document and investigate the presence of <i>Riccia</i> in the South Sinai mountains and wadis, as well as its ecological preferences. Four new species (<i>Riccia crozalsii</i>, <i>R. crystallina</i>, <i>R. glauca</i>, and <i>R. subbifurca</i>) were added to the existing liverwort inventory, increasing the number of <i>Riccia</i> spp. in Egypt from 7 to 11 and the total liverwort count from 13 to 17. Distribution maps, ecological preferences, and differentiation key for all <i>Riccia</i> spp. recorded in Egypt were provided. Description and photos of thalli and spores were presented, along with the ecological parameters and both regional and global distribution data for the newly identified species. This study also presents the first scanning electron microscope images of spores from <i>Riccia</i> spp. collected from the study area, facilitating future identification of unidentified samples.</p>
