摘要

Paris xuefengshanensis, a new species collected from Hunan, China, is described and illustrated here based on phylogenetic and morphological evidence. Morphologically, it resembles P. thibetica and P. qiliangiana but can be distinguished by the shape of the leaf and sepal, the type of placenta and fruit. The phylogenetic analysis of the chloroplast genome revealed that P. xuefengshanensis does not belong to any section of the latest infrageneric taxonomy system, but form a well-supported independent monophyletic clade. Combined with morphology, we speculate that its distinctive phylogenetic position is related to the type of placenta (the transitional type between the parietal placenta and axile placenta).
