<p>In this paper, we present general exact solutions to the governing equations of geophysical fluid dynamics for an inviscid and stratified azimuthal flow with a meridionally localized jet structure in terms of cylindrical coordinates. The obtained exact solution admits a depth-dependent velocity profile below the surface and pertains to the modelling of the Equatorial Undercurrent. Additionally, we show that flows with constant density are not realistic and the stratification permits us to produce realistic flow profiles, where two particular examples are discussed.</p>
