Hierarchical NiMnLDH decorated porous carbon nanotubes with N-doped graphitic carbon for electrochemical sensing of 4-nitrophenol
摘要
A 3D NiMn-layered double hydroxide (NiMnLDH) integrated with a conductive N-doped carbon nanotube (NCNT) core is presented as a highly effective electrocatalyst. The synergistic interaction between the porous LDH sheets and the interconnected 3D N-doped CNT structure is engineered to maximize electrical conductivity, facilitate ion mobility, and enhance electron transfer through readily accessible active sites. NiMnLDH-wrapped carbon tubes (NML-NCNTs) were successfully synthesized in a single wet chemical step and applied to the lower-level sensitive electrochemical assay of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) using a CNT-LDH synergy. Among the series, the NML-NCNT-5 electrode demonstrated enhanced electrochemical performance and notable sensitivity, with a concentration range of 0.02–1100 µM and LOD of 2.6 nM. This superior performance is attributed to its extensive electrochemically active surface area, high conductivity, and prolonged storage stability. The suggested sensor’s operational stability remained at 90.23% over 40 cycles. The current work demonstrates that customizing NML-NCNT heterojunctions is a key method for developing an active and stable sensing platform.
