Novel Sub-core Extraction Method Using CNC Milling for Water-Sensitive and Fragile Rock
摘要
Extraction of sample from core using computer numerical control milling in fragile and water sensitive rock formations at any orientation. Milling is performed using an end-mill and sub-freezing compressed air thus eliminating surface erosion and fluid invasion. The proposed milling protocol shows about 85% success rate in extraction of testable samples in any direction to the bedding plane.
