摘要

The German Association for Applied Geography (DVAG) was founded in 1950 by Walter Christaller, Paul Gauss, and Emil Meynen as the “Association of German Professional Geographers.” Over the past 75 years, the DVAG has developed into the most important platform for applied geography in Germany. However, modern associations must always remain flexible in responding to social and economic changes. Strategic partnerships play a pivotal role in this by offering the opportunity to pursue common goals with other players, use resources more efficiently, and overcome challenges by pooling expertise. Cooperation is particularly important in areas where competencies from different disciplines come together. The COVID-19 pandemic posed a particular challenge and served as the impetus for joint discussions between the DVAG, the National Association of City and Town Marketing (bcsd), and the German Association of Business Promotion and Development Organizations (DVWE) on cross-association cooperation, which is characterized by an interdisciplinary knowledge transfer and a stronger common voice in political and social discourse. It is intended to represent a significant step toward a strategically oriented, cooperative future. It serves as inspiration, as an example, and as the impetus for further cooperation between the DVAG and other associations, institutions, and companies.
