Biosensors are autonomous analytical devices that generate measurable signals proportional to the concentration of a target analyte. Combining principles from chemistry, materials science, engineering, and nanotechnology, biosensors are widely utilized in clinical applications to monitor critical health parameters and enable early disease detection. They play a pivotal role in identifying biomarkers linked to specific diseases, employing non-invasive detection methods, isolating biomarkers from complex biological matrices, and converting these into quantifiable signals. These steps facilitate timely diagnosis, which is vital for effective treatment planning and patient survival. The increasing demand for point-of-care diagnostic tools has driven advancements in portable biosensing technologies characterized by rapid response times, user-friendliness, affordability, and scalability. These devices are particularly valuable for managing prevalent conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and skin disorders. This review emphasizes recent progress in biosensing systems, focusing on bio-recognition and transduction mechanisms for diagnosing dermal disorders, diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular ailments. It provides an overview of biosensors currently employed for the detection, monitoring, and management of these conditions, highlighting their clinical significance.
