摘要

Textiles are not only one of the first products made by human hands. They have also been an important object of trade and exchange of societies over centuries, a driver of industrialization as well as a symbol of a new economic system. Today, textiles are often seen as pure consumer goods, the provision of which is a matter of course for many societies around the world. This obviousness alone results in a direct connection with the sustainable development goals of the United Nations, from Alpha to Omega, i.e. the production of raw materials for textile production to textile waste management. This article will briefly present this connection, also from a social and economic historical perspective. The possibilities of a circular economy of textiles to achieve the sustainable development goals will also be discussed.
