摘要

The UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development offers a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. It also seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) demonstrate the scale and ambition of this new universal Agenda. In Austria 23 universities have developed a joint project under the title UniNEtZ to systematically examine the SDGs and to identify and evaluate future-oriented options for action in terms of the implementation of the SDGs in Austria. Within this article, selected options linked to waste management and circular economy—which are developed within the UniNEtZ framework—are described and their interactions with SDG-sub-goals are exposed and discussed. In general, sustainable development can only be achieved if the principle of indivisibility of economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, social progress and effective democratic governance is considered. Hence, interdisciplinary thinking and working is essential and must become the basis for sustainable development.
