摘要

Lakes with a large surface area generally have a high retention potenzial and influence the discharge of the downstream areas. The water level and discharge of Lake Mondsee is regulated by a controllable weir at low and medium water levels. The operation of this weir is based on regulation rules from 1982. Different users have different interests with regard to water levels and discharges. This article presents the basis for an adapted weir regulation, which considers not only the improvement of flood protection, but also other user requirements. In contrast to initial considerations from a preliminary project, where the possibility of forecast-based advance lowering was investigated, this article focuses on a seasonally optimized operation of the weir. This can not only improve the flood risk due to high lake water levels, but also positively impact other sectors such as energy industry, tourism and ecology.
