Since 2020, Montanuniversität Leoben has been pooling its research activities in the field of hydrogen and carbon in the strategic core research area SCoReA+ Hydrogen and Carbon. The integration of diverse academic departments within the university facilitates the coordinated management of intricate issues, ensuring a targeted and effective approach to problem-solving. The university’s network is strengthened by partnerships with external research institutions and industrial partners. As a result, the national and international visibility of Montanuniversität Leoben as a key research institution in the field of hydrogen and carbon, as well as the effective use of resources, is significantly strengthened.
The establishment of the Research Centre for Hydrogen and Carbon represents a substantial development in the realm of industry-oriented research, with a focus on innovative technologies pertaining to the production and application of hydrogen and carbon. This infrastructure is of paramount significance as it underscores a commitment to advancements in these crucial domains. Furthermore, the research centre is making a significant contribution to the further scaling and industrial implementation of these technologies.
The activities undertaken in the area of awareness raising serve to sharpen the population’s understanding of innovative technologies and the transformation of the industrial, mobility and energy sectors. Furthermore, they serve to stimulate curiosity regarding the innovative research activities of Montanuniversität Leoben. The area surrounding the research centre is utilised as a teaching and learning environment, with a particular focus on hosting workshops for schoolchildren and educators.
