摘要

With the increasing use of direct reduced iron (DRI) in the transformation of the steel industry, the safe handling and transport of this material is becoming an increasingly important issue. Due to its porous structure, DRI is particularly susceptible to particle breakage during conveying and handling processes. This article presents a methodical approach to the practical investigation of the fracture behaviour of DRI pellets. The focus is on experimental single-particle impact tests to map impact stresses and their integration into simulation-based analyses using the discrete element method. The test setup, test methodology, and calibration of the numerical model are described. The experimental and numerical methods described form a basis for the future evaluation and optimisation of transport and conveyor systems for DRI along the industrial logistics chain.
