Experimental Investigation of Additive Dissolution Behavior in Slags and Analysis of Physical and Electrochemical Properties
摘要
To achieve the European Commission’s Green Deal goal of climate neutrality by 2050, the iron and steel industry must reduce CO2 emissions by adopting low-carbon technologies and optimizing existing processes. A crucial aspect is slag metallurgy, where adjusting slag composition with additives and determining slag properties improves efficiency. This contribution investigates the potential of using recycled refractories as slag additives to enhance sustainability and resource efficiency. In addition, this contribution provides a brief overview of the viscosity and the electrochemical measurements conducted on different slag systems. Results indicate that secondary additives exhibit dissolution behavior similar to conventional additives, supporting their use as an alternative. Viscosity and electrochemical studies provide essential data for optimizing metallurgical processes. These findings contribute to the development of sustainable steel production by integrating recycled materials and refining slag properties, aligning with climate goals and reducing the industry’s environmental impact.
