<p>In 1633 the Bernstein lordship built a&#xa0;glassworks in Mönchgraben near Günsbach in Burgenland. Due to a&#xa0;lack of wood, this plant was probably closed again in 1694. The examined glass contained both sodium and potassium, which indicates that no pure forest glass made from potash was processed. The samples additionally contained Mn, which was added to decolorize the glass. The use of As could not be detected in the glasses.</p><p>The two examined glass hand grenades came from Güssing Castle. These were probably made between 1590 and 1600. This glass contained mixtures of sodium and potassium as well. A&#xa0;bright layer of corrosion on one of the fracture surfaces was noticeable.</p>
