摘要

The extraction of raw materials has been a fundamental aspect of human society since its earliest beginnings. The current focus is on incorporating the concept of ‘sustainability’. Mine planning has always been an important and central process in mining. A recent study at Montanuniversität focuses on an approach to integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) aspects into the mine planning process. Several indices are defined and used to extend the net present value (NPV) to a transformed “social NPV”. An analysis and a case study investigate whether such aspects can be integrated into the deposit model and how they influence the optimal mining sequence. The results show the importance of incorporating ESG into mine planning as they have a significant impact on the optimal mining sequence. It is suggested that its implementation is flexible to allow for iterations between mine plans and the incorporation of guidelines and standards that are currently being developed.
