摘要

In today’s context, the growing global awareness of the importance of ethical and sustainable practices in the mining industry has motivated the creation of laws, pushing companies to increase transparency and act with due diligence, particularly those within the supply chains of critical minerals essential for various technological and energy industries. With this focus on corporate social responsibility and demands for sustainable practices, the EU project MaDiTraCe emerged, aiming to implement advanced traceability solutions. Through a multidisciplinary approach, this project seeks to develop technologies for effective certification and tracking of minerals from their origin to recycling. MaDiTraCe’s approach is being developed by investigating advanced material traceability technologies, such as mineralogical-chemical and isotopic material fingerprinting and artificial labeling, as well as creating a certification system to form a digital product passport. The project focuses on the supply chains of magnets, batteries, particularly in the automotive industry and sustainable power generation, and on certain critical raw materials: lithium, cobalt, natural graphite, and rare earths, with a special focus on neodymium. MaDiTraCe’s approach is expected to represent a significant improvement in supply chain transparency, facilitating ethical and sustainable sourcing of raw materials.
