Improving power quality and efficiency of multi-level inverter system through intelligent control algorithm
摘要
Conventional power conversion systems often face challenges with harmonic distortion and electromagnetic interference (EMI), particularly when handling high power. Multi-level inverters offer a compelling solution, boasting improved harmonic performance and reduced EMI emissions. This work presents a groundbreaking approach for cascaded multilevel inverters, employing a novel intelligent algorithm for real-time optimization of switching angles. This approach leverages the combined strengths of Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to dynamically determine the optimal switching angles, leading to significant reductions in Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). By implementing this real-time optimization strategy, our research achieves a THD reduction of 26.34% (from 18.42 to 13.66%) in a seven-level inverter operating online. This substantial improvement demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed intelligent algorithm. Furthermore, the model's adaptability is showcased by adjusting DC voltage and resistance parameters, bringing THD down to an even lower value of 13.54%. These quantitative results solidify the model's capability to achieve superior harmonic suppression in real-world applications. The general applicability of this approach extends beyond the presented case study. This intelligent algorithm holds promise for various industrial applications that require high-performance multilevel inverters. By ensuring exceptional power quality through real-time optimization of switching angles, the proposed model paves the way for advancements in diverse industrial sectors.
