Politische Themen in psychodynamischen Therapien
摘要
When patients bring socially important political issues and positions into our practices, therapists face a variety of challenges. The concept of neutrality and awareness of its limitations, group analytical concepts of belonging, the formation of in-groups and out-groups, experiences of exclusion, the function and limitations of solidarity and the development of identities, all contribute to addressing political issues in therapy in a way that benefits patients. For the socially dominant issues of climate change, social inequality and migration, psychosocial compromise formations are presented and discussed. Clinical examples lead to suggestions for dealing with political issues in therapy: interest in personal experiences (narratives) related to the development of political positions, exploring the interpersonal norms and group affiliations associated with these experiences, interpreting psychosocial compromises, developing tolerance for ambiguity and the therapist responding with a reflective personal position. The goal is to shape therapeutic relationships even in the face of widely differing positions on issues that jointly affect the analytical pair. This is aided by a therapist’s reflected personal stance on the important political issues of our time, also with respect to group affiliations.
