Was der Fall ist – eine Filmanalyse von Anatomie eines Falls

The movie Anatomy of a fall becomes the subject of a film analysis. At the center of the film is 11-year-old Daniel, who witnesses his father’s fall from a balcony, has to endure the long negotiations in court and develops an ingenious solution. Sandra Hüller plays the role of Daniel’s mother, named Sandra, too. A psychoanalytical expert witness appears in court, who does not cut a good figure but you can see how the participants, from the public prosecutor to Daniel, learn from his misjudgements and errors and develop their own epistemologies, which initially fight against each other just like in science and psychoanalytic everyday life. Daniel’s solution, however, is one that is virtually exemplary of psychoanalytical listening, interrogation and reasoning.
