<p>This study focuses on the anatomical description and comparative analysis of the cecum in three non-human primate species of the family Atelidae. Anatomical specimens included three <i>Brachyteles arachnoides</i>, six <i>Brachyteles hypoxanthus</i>, four hybrids within <i>Brachyteles</i>, and five <i>Alouatta guariba clamitans</i> specimens. Animals had died in captivity or the wild due to non-intestinal causes. The external morphology of the cecum was described in terms of shape, width, length, vascular supply, and topographic relationships with the ileum and ascending colon. The cecum in all species showed sac-like shapes and marked proportions, lacking teniae, haustra, or vermiform appendices. An external annular groove (ileocecal fold) marked the boundary with the ascending colon, internally defined by a cecocolic sphincter. While this feature was present in both genera, it was more pronounced in <i>A. guariba clamitans</i> than in <i>Brachyteles spp.</i> Vascularization followed a typical pattern for non-human primates, with ventral and dorsal arteries and veins. The internal structures—cecal crests, cecal papillae, and semilunar folds have not previously been described in other vertebrates. Their presence may reflect both evolutionary history and ecological convergence. However, the structural similarity across species points to a herbivorous common ancestor. These features may significantly enhance large intestinal absorption capacity, and reflecting specialized herbivory.</p>
