Koronarchirurgie – eine Literaturübersicht 2023

The cardiac surgery literature of 2023 was reviewed and compiled in a review article. Key studies focused on the medium-term and long-term effects of invasive treatment options in patient populations with coronary artery disease (CAD). Specifically, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) was compared to coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The literature from 2023 confirmed the excellent long-term results of CABG in patients with left main coronary artery stenosis compared to PCI. This also applies to complex coronary anatomy, chronic CAD, and older patient populations. The results of the studies confirm the myocardial infarction preventive effect of CABG as key determinant for a prognostic effect. Additionally, the data on ad hoc PCI suggest poor adherence to guidelines in patients with left main coronary artery stenosis and multivessel disease. This overview includes publications that appeared relevant from our perspective. The focus is on surgically relevant aspects.
