Stereoelectroencephalography-guided radiofrequency thermocoagulation for secondary occipital lobe epilepsy in a child: a case report
摘要
Secondary occipital lobe epilepsy (OLE) in pediatric patients is often associated with extensive structural brain abnormalities. Preoperative evaluation typically guides resection or disconnection of the affected brain tissue. In recent years, with the advancement of stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) implantation technology in China, satisfactory therapeutic outcomes have been achieved. This approach involves collecting clinical, video electroencephalogram (EEG), and imaging data of epileptic seizures in children, interpreting these data to localize the epileptogenic zone and discharge propagation network, and subsequently performing SEEG-guided radiofrequency thermocoagulation (RF-TC). Here, we report a case of minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment of secondary OLE in a child, contextualized within a review of the relevant literature.
