Analytical models of focusing schlieren systems and experimental validation
摘要
Analytical models are presented for the defocus blur, diffraction blur, vignetting, and schlieren sensitivity of single and dual field lens focusing schlieren systems. The experimental defocus blur, diffraction pattern, and vignetting are found to be in good agreement with theory. A single-pass, dual field lens, dual grating focusing schlieren system with continuously variable defocus blur is used to visualize a wall-normal cylinder in supersonic air flow as a demonstration of the system. Guidance is provided for the design of single and dual field lens focusing schlieren systems.
