Vom Stich zum Sehverlust – Augenkomplikationen bei West-Nil-Virus
摘要
Ocular involvement related to West Nile Virus infection is receiving increasing attention in Europe as the virus expands northward due to climate change. Next to the well-known neurological complications, the virus can also affect the eye, often in cases of severe neuroinvasive disease, and lead to retinal changes. The most common ocular manifestation is multifocal chorioretinitis with nummular lesions distributed in a distinctive linear pattern. Uveitis, optic neuritis, retinal vasculitis, and in some cases permanent vision loss are reported as well. Here, we present a case of West Nile Virus -related ocular involvement from our clinic.
