Genetic Innovations in Soybean: Key Genes Driving Salinity Tolerance
摘要
Soybean is a valuable crop whose productivity is hindered by salt stress. Soybean production is adversely affected by high salt levels due to changes in growth and nodulation, agronomic attributes, seed quality, and quantity. A significant number of genes dispersed throughout the genome regulate environmental stress tolerance. In soybeans, genes that confer salt tolerance are part of intricate physiological and molecular processes. Understanding the molecular mechanisms of soybean salt tolerance is essential for the breeding of salt-tolerant soybeans, and technological advancements will aid in clarifying the complex mechanisms involved in soybean salt tolerance. In the present review, we explored that how salt-tolerant related genes contribute and involved in novel pathways in salt stress tolerance in soybean. The current review will encompass how different approaches can enhance salinity stress in soybean, comprising a variety of traditional and cutting-edge techniques, gene and gene-editing strategies, as well as methods based on plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). We also suggest innovative methods for generating and utilizing heritable genome-wide epigenetic variation in soybeans to enhance salinity tolerance, drawing on recent advancements in the field of epigenetics. Therefore, the integration of multiple approaches to respond the salt stress improves the soybean breeding program in saline environment.
