Spectroscopic study and Judd–Ofelt analysis of Ho3+ activated vanadate phosphor: a potential green emitting candidate for WLED applications

The efficient synthesis of Ho3+ doped KSrVO4 (KSV) green emitting luminescent material using the facile combustion synthesis method is presented in this article. Powder X-ray diffraction, was used to confirm that the material was in its orthorhombic phase. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was used to examine the elemental makeup and oxidation states of different phosphor components. Utilizing Judd–Ofelt analysis, the environment around the dopant ion in the KSV host was examined. Using Photoluminescence spectroscopy, two primary emission bands have been identified. The brightest band, attributed to green emission from the phosphor material with outstanding color purity, is centered at 547 nm due to the transition 5F4 + 5S2 → 5I8. Tauc plot derived from diffuse reflectance spectra gives the estimated value of optical band gap to be 3.59 eV. The aforementioned results suggest that Ho3+ doped KSV might be investigated as a remarkable green emitting element for phosphor-converted white light emitting diodes (pc-WLEDs).
