Gordonia marina sp. nov., Isolated from Coastal Seawater
摘要
A novel marine bacterium, designated as strain FQT, was successfully isolated from a seawater sample taken from the vicinity of a nuclear power plant. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain FQT belonged to the genus Gordonia, with the highest sequence similarity to strain Gordonia phosphorivorans CCM 7957T (97.4%), followed by strains Gordonia phthalatica KCTC 39933T (97.4%), strain Gordonia pseudamarae CON9T (97.4%) and strain Gordonia amarae NBRC 15530T (97.3%). Cell was Gram-stain positive, aerobic, catalase-positive, oxidase-negative, rod-shaped, and non-motile. Growth was observed at pH 4.0–8.5, salinities of 0–7% and temperatures of 15–42 °C. The G + C content of the chromosomal DNA was 69.8%. The major respiratory quinone was MK-9(H2). The principal fatty acids (> 5%) were C16:0, C18:0 10-methyl, Summed Feature 3 (C16:1ω7c/ω6c), C19:0 anteiso, C14:0, and C18:1ω9c. The major polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol (DPG), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), phosphatidylinositol (PI), phosphatidylinositol mannosides (PIM). The genomic relatedness between strain FQT and its closest relatives was quantitatively assessed. Digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) values were estimated as 20.4% (vs. strain Gordonia phthalatica KCTC 39933ᵀ), 19.9% (vs. strain Gordonia mangrovi CCTCC AA 2019074ᵀ), 20.3% (vs. strain Gordonia tangerina MCCC 1A18727ᵀ), and 19.8% (vs. strain Gordonia hankookensis ON-33ᵀ). Correspondingly, the average nucleotide identity (ANI) values were calculated as 76.2%, 74.1%, 74.0%, and 73.9%, respectively, against the same set of type strains. The combined genotypic and phenotypic data show that strain FQT represents a novel species within the genus Gordonia, for which the name Gordonia marina sp. nov. is proposed, with the type strain FQT (= MCCC 1A21950T = KCTC 59461T).
