Evaluation of Taxonomic Positions of Robertmurraya yapensis Hitch et al. 2025, Bacillus yapensis Xu et al. 2025, Pseudonocardia saturnea (Hirsch 1960) Warwick et al. 1994 and Pseudonocardia autotrophica (Takamiya and Tubaki 1956) Warwick et al. 1994

In the present study, the taxonomic positions of Robertmurraya yapensis, Bacillus yapensis, Pseudonocardia saturnea, and Pseudonocardia autotrophica were evaluated. The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, phylogenetic, phylogenomic and genome relatedness using average nucleotide identity (ANI) and digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) were analysed. The 16S rRNA gene sequences extracted from the genomes of the strains Robertmurraya yapensis CLA-AA-H227T and Bacillus yapensis XXST-01ᵀ and Pseudonocardia saturnea NBRC 14499T and Pseudonocardia autotrophica NBRC 12743T showed 100% similarity, which exceeded the species delineation threshold (98.65%). In phylogenetic and phylogenomic trees, they showed a close relationship. The ANI and dDDH values between the Robertmurraya yapensis CLA-AA-H227T and Bacillus yapensis XXST-01ᵀ, and between Pseudonocardia saturnea NBRC 14499T and Pseudonocardia autotrophica NBRC 12743T were above the cut-off values (95–96% for ANI and 70% for dDDH) for species delineation. Based on the results, we propose to reclassify Pseudonocardia saturnea (Hirsch 1960) Warwick et al. 1994 as a later heterotypic synonym of Pseudonocardia autotrophica (Takamiya and Tubaki 1956) Warwick et al. 1994. In addition, we propose to reclassify Robertmurraya yapensis Hitch et al. 2025 as a later heterotypic synonym of Bacillus yapensis Xu et al. 2025.
