摘要

An aerobic, oligotrophic, Gram-stain negative, non-sporulating, motile, rod-shaped bacterium designated strain NSA17 was isolated from leaf soil collected in Japan. This strain grew at 25 °C to 40 °C (optimum 35 °C) and pH 5.0 to 10.0 (optimum pH 6.5). The major cellular fatty acid and quinone system were C16: 0 and ubiquinone 8. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed strain NSA17 to present as a member of the genus Bordetella. The draft genome of strain NSA17 consisted of 5,144,706 bp with a G + C content of 68.5% and comprising 5,740 predicted coding sequences. Multilocus sequence analysis based on partial sequences of four housekeeping genes (atpD, gyrB, infB and rpoB) showed that branching of strain NSA17 was distant to those of other Bordetella type strains. The genome average nucleotide identity, digital DNA-DNA hybridization and average amino acid identity values between strain NSA17 and its closest related Bordetella type strains were less than 84.6%, 40.6% and 85.9%, respectively. Based on its phenotypic, chemotaxonomic, phylogenetic and phylogenomic features, strain NSA17 (= HUT-8147T = KCTC 82065T) can be considered a novel species within the genus Bordetella with the proposed name Bordetella saccharivorans sp. nov.
