Purpose <p>The zygomatico-temporal region holds both reconstructive and aesthetic importance, particularly in periorbital surgery and facial rejuvenation. The zygomatico-orbital artery (ZOA) appears to be the main vascular structure in this region; however, anatomical studies remain limited and sometimes contradictory. The aim of this study was to provide additional information on the descriptive anatomy of the ZOA, its perforators, its anastomoses and its angiosome.</p> Methods <p>20 hemifacial specimens were dissected to describe the anatomy of the zygomatico-orbital artery, its perforators, its anastomoses with the regional arterial network. 21 hemifacial specimens were dissected to measure the surface area of the ZOA angiosome.</p> Results <p>ZOA is found in over 90% of cases injected with latex. The ZOA had an oblique course, averaging 15&#xa0;mm above the zygomatic arch. The mean number of perforators was 4.6. Mean perforating site was 22.5 ± 6.0&#xa0;mm posterior to the lateral border of the orbit and 16.4 ± 6.2&#xa0;mm above the upper border of the zygomatic arch. The mean skin surface area of the angiosome was 31.8 ± 6.7 cm<sup>2</sup>.</p> Conclusion <p>A detailed anatomical understanding of the ZOA, the main artery in the region described in our study, helps to guide the choice of flaps from the zygomatico-temporal region, and provides additional information to ensure the safety of filler injection procedures in this area.</p>

Methods
