A review of modern techniques for efficient control of AC motors utilized in PV water pumping system

摘要

Energy prices are increasing due to the considerable growth of energy demand, which has caused an increasing rise in fossil fuels consumption. The use of renewable energy sources especially solar photovoltaic (PV) technologies for water pumping applications has been seeking attention from researchers. The motor is an essential element of the PV water pumping system. The control strategy of the motor-driven water pump fed by solar PVs can affect the system’s performance. Intelligent control strategies have been implemented in various systems to improve their efficiency. Due to the advancement of technology in the field of control theory, the use of AC motors for water pumping applications has become more widespread and efficient. Therefore, this work intends to make a review of the intelligent control strategies applied to AC motors used in PV water pumping systems. Different controller boards used for the implementation of control strategies are also presented. Accordingly, this manuscript aims to provide a quick reference on the optimized control strategies for researchers and engineers who are interested in the performance enhancement of PV water pumping systems based on AC Motors.
