Performance evaluation of M-class synchrophasor estimation using enhanced band-pass FIR filter under a comprehensive integrated compliance test

The synchrophasor estimation offers reliable, economical, and efficient wide-area monitoring, control and protection applications for the power system. The evaluation of the performance of phasor estimation ensures the requirements of power system monitoring, control, and protection applications. This paper presents the comprehensive integrated compliance test for evaluating the performance of phasor estimation. The integrated compliance tests model the real-time operating scenario of the power system considering all steady-state and dynamic-state test conditions together. Firstly, M-class phasor estimation using the enhanced band-pass FIR filter with various window functions Rife-Vincent-class 2, Hamming, Hanning, and Blackman is presented. In addition, the frequency and rate of change of frequency (ROCOF) are calculated from the estimated phasor. Further, the comparative performance analysis for the phasor, frequency, and ROCOF estimation using an enhanced band-pass FIR filter with various window functions under standard compliance tests and integrated compliance tests is presented to demonstrate the necessity of the integrated compliance tests.
