Begutachtung Lebender bei behaupteten Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit am Beispiel Syrien
摘要
The documentation and assessment of injuries to living persons is one of the core tasks of forensic medicine. It is the basis for a plausibility assessment in which an alleged injury process is compared with the existing injury findings. Particularities arise, for example, if the alleged traumatization occurred a long time ago, as in the case of the accounts of Syrian refugees who report having been tortured and abused. As soon as injuries penetrating the dermis are to be expected based on the descriptions, scarred healing is to be expected. Although the assessment of scars only allows a limited interpretation, it is often of considerable value for the further assessment, for example of the credibility of witness statements. The use of X‑ray imaging should also be considered when appropriate (ballistic effects, fractures, injuries to ligaments and tendons), especially as the radiation exposure is very low with simple X‑ray imaging. The application of the assessment criteria of the Istanbul Protocol when drawing up the expert opinion is extremely helpful and has proven its worth.
