<p>Injuries related to fireworks, especially on New Year’s Eve, are frequently seen in the routine clinical setting but they rarely result in fatal injuries. In the depicted case a&#xa0;young male adult died due to incorrect handling of a&#xa0;firework of category&#xa0;F4, which led to a&#xa0;massive craniocerebral trauma. The sale of pyrotechnical material of this category is only allowed for people with a&#xa0;pyrotechnical license according to the German Explosives Act, which in this case did not exist. This article discusses the mechanism of injury and gives a&#xa0;short overview of the construction and the operation of the firework used.</p>

Injuries related to fireworks, especially on New Year’s Eve, are frequently seen in the routine clinical setting but they rarely result in fatal injuries.
