Von der Entwicklung der gerichtlichen Medizin/Rechtsmedizin in Brandenburg nach dem II. Weltkrieg und der Arbeit in einem Schloss

During the territorial reorganisation of the state after the Second World War, Brandenburg was also served by the Institutes of Forensic Medicine at the Humboldt University in Berlin and the Carl-Gustav-Carus University of Applied Sciences in Dresden. On the initiative of Prof. Dr. Otto Prokop, then head of the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Charité, two district institutes were set up in Potsdam and Frankfurt (Oder). In 1983 Dr. Kurt Markert was entrusted with the establishment of the institute in Potsdam. He organized the necessary structures and occupied the small Lindstedt City Palace as the institute building. In 1987 a new functional building was planned, about 50 m opposite Lindstedt Castle, which was opened in 1994. Prior to this, a cabinet decision sealed the continuation of Forensic Medicine in the State of Brandenburg as a public health service institution subordinate to the State Ministry by merging the two institutes in Potsdam and Frankfurt (Oder).
